This is such a great post. I have a many questions that help me figure things out or stay present. And I write them down where I can see them so I will actually ask them! :0 (This is key Lol!) These are a few in my rotation...
Is this true or a story I'm telling myself?
What matters most?
What is my WHY?
What went well today?
And while I'm trying to "respond not react"---Do I need to respond? Often I do not
It’s so true about needing a reminder to use helpful questions! I love the idea of posting the questions you want to use in a visible spot so you are sure to ask them of yourself. What a great idea!
Our family is neurodiverse, and leaving things open-ended doesn’t come naturally to me. While my husband leaves things to simmer in an open-ended manner that boggles my mind.
In this way, he is my best-constant reminder to ask, “Did I give this a fair chance?”
So that’s my question lately. Did I give this person or situation enough time to really discover what’s going on? Or did I rush to conclusions because my brain weaves patterns and explanations on hyperdrive ...?
Gosh, I love questions. So much so, I have unofficially given myself the title of "professional question asker". Most of my questions usually start with "why" because I always want to know the logic and path someone took to come to the conclusion/decision. BUT I have also found, many people don't like questions which gets me into a pickle sometimes.
Some people don’t like them- to varying degrees! I agree that questions can be intrusive in some circumstances, usually if there is a faltering relationship or no relationship at all. But I think asked with goodwill and a willingness to engage and help, and in a spirit of curiosity, questions show care, start conversation, and bring neutral curiosity to a space. But oh yes, i hear you, I have been in those “pickles” myself!
Every time you write I want to journal and savor it! These are so good, Danielle!
Lately, the question that keeps coming to my mind is, "Who is telling me this?"
Such a good one! This sounds like it may assist with discernment.

I am here for it! This sounds like a helpful question that examines assumptions as well. Thanks for sharing!
