6 Sounds At Night
The sounds outside at bedtime.
1. Roar of the ocean. Each and every day I’m grateful this sound surrounds our home. It’s not the lapping, rolling waves but it’s soothing and meditative.
2. Fog horn in the bay. This, too, is enchanting. I feel like I live in a coastal novel.
3. Tree branches in wind. I don’t live in a town with a freeway, an airport, a railroad, or a busy road, and thick, evening fog muffles regular ‘ol cars, so most nights, night is absolutely silent except for a tree branch against our chimney. It’s spooky and I love it.
4. Coyotes. There are howling coyotes and the roaring sea and us, and the combination is chilling at nighttime.
5. Seagulls. I hear these birds at all hours.
6. Mystery Animal. It sounds like a cross between a seagull and a coyote and maybe a dog, a frog, and a witch? I’ve lived here a year and WHAT IS IT?
